Disillusioned Learner

When was the last time you were discouraged socially? When was the last time you were discouraged spiritually? When was the last time you were discouraged physically? When was the last time you were discouraged intellectually?

During those times, did you know what you were doing? Were you committed to what you were doing? If you answered no to both of those questions, you were what Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges call a “disillusioned learner”, one who has low competence and low commitment. This language is from their book, The Servant Leader.

I’ve been there. You’ve been there. We’ve all been there. Ask God for the grace for the courage to ask your leader to provide high direction and high support.

Low competence and low commitment.

High direction and high support.

You can do it and here’s how you do it.
